Client: US Coast Guard
Location: Multiple Locations, Western U.S.
Scope of Work:
- Hydrographic Surveys
- Eelgrass Surveys
Brice completed hydrographic surveys at 26 USCG units in California, Oregon, and Washington, and eelgrass surveys at 10 USCG Units in California and Washington. We conducted the surveys to establish the dredge footprint, depth conditions, determine the presence of eelgrass and other marine vegetation within the dredge footprint, and dredge material quantities to support planning and permitting for dredging.
We located Mean Higher High Water and Mean Lower Low Water and in-water structure outfalls, cable crossings, or other man-made features within and adjacent to the dredge footprint. The layout and cross-sectional drawings included quantities to be dredged for targeted depths and over depth (1-foot and 2-foot), as well as the projected calculations of material in the side slope.
Brice conducted the eelgrass surveys during the growing season in accordance with regulations and included mitigation recommendations for marine vegetation present within the dredge footprint. Hydrographic survey procedures were performed in accordance with USACE Manual EM 1110-2-1003.
Performance Highlights
- Completed the project on time and on budget and no safety incidents
- Provided more than one cross-sectional view of area requiring dredging to provide perspective for the USCG to setup their dredge program; hydrographic drawings and eelgrass survey reports were approved with few to no comments or revisions from the USCG
- Successfully provided services to the USCG during the COVID-19 pandemic by being flexible and using mitigation measures during the field surveys that limited exposure to Unit personnel and general public
